Mistique as a tiny kitten in 2023 was found to have a heart murmur. It didn't impact her activity level, so we were hopeful that she might grow out of it. However, the murmur persisted and eventually grew to a grade 4, so Mistique was sent to a veterinary cardiologist. Although her heart size is normal, she was found to have a left-to-right shunting ventricular septal defect, which is not something that can be corrected by surgery. Her echocardiograms show that the defect is stable at this time, but it will require life-long monitoring and may also require medication at some point in the future. Part of the lifetime monitoring process will involve periodic echocardiograms. Buddy has agreed to pay for several years of biannual echocardiogram monitoring. Mistique is one of the sweetest and most cuddly cats at Buddy. She will be the first to crawl in your lap, and also the first to attack the wand toy: Her spirit is very big for such a small girl! Won't you give her a home?
