WANTED: Fun loving, energetic, loving human companion!! My name is Blue. I'm a handsome, 3-1/2 year old, fun-loving, energetic, intelligent, lovable male looking for the same in a human companion. I'm originally from West Virginia and came up to the Midwest through the Underhound Railroad (yes, there really is such an organization). My sister found a great home so I followed her up hoping for the same. I was pretty abused and neglected and very unsocialized - also afraid of men. My foster mom was a little concerned that I was still somewhat timid when someone new came in, but learned that this was an Aussie characteristic. Who knew? Anyway, I've done my best to overcome my fears as best I can - men, people, thunder, fireworks. My foster mom and a lot of her friends have really helped me develop into the stud muffin I am.
I like to play with toys, play fetch, love to run, but mostly I like to cuddle. I'm good with other dogs but my foster mom thinks I'd do extremely well in my own home. I still chase the cat in the house so really small critters probably wouldn't be good although I do live with Papillons now and the largest is my closest buddy. We play all the time. I do know some commands, although I don't like that "stay" thing. I'll "wait" but I can't wait THAT long! Come on! I love to eat, of course, as most men do so you don't have to worry about those "leftovers" you humans have - I'll take care of them! My foster mom thinks I'd do really well on a farm as I am of the herding line - a mix of Australian Shepherd, German Shepherd and Cattle Dog. Another option is she thinks I'd be a great agility dog. Whatever, but I do need a job. My foster mom is pretty busy and doesn't have the time to do all these things with me but says I deserve to have my own home and live with someone who will be my forever friend.
I haven't been around many children although we do live near a school and those kids look like they'd be fun to run with. I've met some really small kids though and they scared me! My foster mom thinks a home with teenagers or smaller kids who aren't too excitable would be OK - I do need a pretty laid-back family as I can get pretty excited, and, as with all herding breeds, will "mouth" when I get excited. I don't bite - honest.
I'm housebroken, used to an oversized kennel (although I'd be willing to share the sofa or bed with you if you don't take up too much room), I'm up-to-date on shots I need, heartworm, and I'm microchipped. Oh, yeah - that male thing - they did that to me too.
If you think you have what it takes and want to share your home with me, don't just stand there reading this - go home and either call Karen (815/455-6658) or email her at katonoak@juno.com. Come on, I'm waiting!
