SMOKEY

GENDER--MALE
APPROX AGE--10 YRS
COLOR--GREY & WHITE

Smokey is a special needs animal that lost the only home he has ever known very recently. His owner was placed in hospice care and not a single family member would offer Smokey a home. A neighbor and a good friend of the owner were Smokey's only daily contacts. When The Buddy Foundation found out about Smokey's plight, we all agreed we had to champion Smokey and take him in. You see, not only has Smokey lost the only family he has ever known, but he is also diabetic. When we first met Smokey, we expected to find a depressed, uninterested cat, considering that his world, as he knew it, had been upended. Instead, we were greeted by a self-assured, chatty boy that demanded attention. Smokey loves attention from everyone and anyone. Smokey will require insulin for the rest of his life, as well as prescription food. Fortunately, Smokey is an easy feline to medicate as he associates his medication with more attention and another opportunity to tell you another meowie story. His natural disposition is upbeat and affectionate. Smokey's diabetes is totally under control and he is considered a medically sound, healthy feline.

The Buddy Foundation is looking for a family for Smokey that will make the commitment to him to provide him with continued, quality medical care and lots of love. Though Smokey is on a low dosage of insulin, the shelf-life of the insulin is only 28 days upon opening the bottle. If you cannot provide Smokey with a home, perhaps you could assist us with a donation ear-marked for Smokey's insulin fund or special diet fund.
